Masterbatch and custom colorant manufacturer Plastics Color Corp. has launched a line of flame-retardant compounds that will allow manufacturers to create flame retardant plastic via extrusion, injection and blow molding. Neither contains decabrome or antimony trioxide.

The idea for the FlamaSol FR line surfaced in May 2011, and PCC began conducting material beta tests with a customer in August, Timothy Workman, vice president of business development, said at the Plastec West trade show, held Feb. 14-16 in Anaheim.

Non-brominated flame retardant system for polypropylene, FlamaSol FR(TM), addresses market demand for safer flame resistant plastics  in various applications where extreme heat may cause ignition. Surpassing testing standards of UL 94 and ANSI 4996 for plastic pallets, product is appropriate for use in injection molding, extrusion, and blow molding applications. It is available in white, black, and natural masterbatches, and custom color formulations are available.

PCC announced the launch of its new LiquiSol(TM) color and additive system for polymers. Vice President of Business Development Tim Workman made the announcement stating that, "LiquiSol is not a product. It's a full system designed to integrate liquid into our customers' operation, not as a replacement to color resin concentrates , but as alternatives for specific manufacturing processes."
